
Giovanni Tamburi
Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer – TIP Tamburi Investment Partners S.p.A.
Giovanni Tamburi is the founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TIP – Tamburi Investment Partners S.p.A., an independent and diversified industrial group, currently the largest Italian private investor focused on mid-to-large sized companies, with investments estimated today at approximately €6 billion.
With extensive experience in both the financial and industrial sectors, he has conceived and developed a distinctive investment model based on long-term partnerships with outstanding entrepreneurs and management teams. Under his leadership, TIP has built over time one of the most significant Italian networks of entrepreneurial-co-investors, fostering growth, internationalization and capital strengthening of its portfolio companies.
He serves on the board of directors of the following leading companies (outside the TIP group’s investment vehicles): Alpitour S.p.A. (Vice Chairman), Azimut Benetti S.p.A., Amplifon S.p.A., Beta Utensili S.p.A., Dexelance S.p.A., Fondazione Altagamma, Interpump Group S.p.A. (Vice Chairman), Neos S.p.A., OVS S.p.A. (Vice Chairman), Voihotels S.p.A., and on the supervisory board of Roche Bobois Groupe SA..
Previously, he gained significant professional experience in the financial sector. From 1980 to 1991, he worked within the Euromobiliare group (Midland Bank Group), where in his later years he served as Director and Deputy General Manager of the parent company Euromobiliare S.p.A., as well as a board member of Banca Euromobiliare S.p.A. and other group companies. He was also General Manager of Euromobiliare Montagu S.p.A., the group’s investment/merchant bank.
From 1977 to 1980, he worked at the Bastogi Group as assistant to the General Manager. Earlier, from 1975 to 1977, he was a financial analyst at S.O.M.E.A. S.p.A.
During his career, he has also held significant institutional roles, including serving as a member of the governmental commission for no. Law 35/92 established by Italian Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning (Privatization Commission), and as a member of the Advisory Board for the privatizations of the Municipality of Milan in 1992–1993.
He also carried out academic activities as an adjunct professor of corporate finance at LIUC – University of Castellanza, teaching both undergraduate courses and master’s programs, from 1992 to 2004, and as an adjunct professor of extraordinary finance transactions in the master’s program at LUISS – Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali in Rome, within its master’s program, from 1993 to 2003.
In 2019, he was awarded the “Parete Prize”, a recognition granted annually at Bocconi University in Milan to prominent figures from the business community who distinguish themselves for excellence, initiative and constructive spirit.
